Tax assessments were no joke this year.

In Hamilton County alone, median sale price increased 16.9% from 2021-2022 (see graph above or download the MIBOR Market Insights Report PDF)—Those awesome sale prices then turned around and bit us in the ass(essment)!

Big question, though: Are you a candidate for an appeal?

Data check: Check the square footage as well as $/sqft to be sure it’s in line with recently sold properties in your area. If something’s off, reach out to your County Assessor or Township Office.

Gut check: Does your gut tell you that your house wouldn’t sell for the assessed value? Maybe there are structural issues or an outdated interior. If you think you’ve got a case to make here, I can help. In reality, most of us will just have to take it on the chin. The downside to so much increase in equity = higher assessed values.
